Heard nasty rumours going around that you’re getting old? People getting your hackles up calling you names like “adult” or “grown-up”?
Well, there’s a shop in town that’s a veritable treasure-trove of goodies sure to please your inner child and stun the naysayers into awed submission.
Billed as ‘Purveyors of Culture for the Misinformed and Maladjusted’, the Stony Street business has made a name for itself through it’s varied and intriguing products from urban vinyl art toys to watches to retro accessories to bath toys to jewellery to designer clocks to lava lamps to…. Well, the skies the limit.
On a mission to bring the more diverse products of world culture to Frome, /ik’sentrik has certainly turned heads in the town, capturing the imagination of locals and visitors. The shop has managed to procure a devout following amongst designers, artists and other cutting edge cool people from as far a field as Bath, London, Canada, New Zealand - well, you get the idea.
Style is literally bursting out of the shop, run by Frome locals Ryan & Lucy Coyle who likes nothing more than to track down the most interesting and aesthetically pleasing items from around the world and bring them back to the heart of the town. Others have tried to follow in the footsteps of /Ik’sentrik but you should accept no imitations. Why follow when you can play with the leader.
Where else can you buy a Smorkin’ Labbit, a leopard print broom, a Pooki, a glow in the dark Munny, a Dunny, a tin clockwork robot, wind-up sumo wrestlers, thingamabots, a couch modeled on the back seat of a 50s Buick, Rat Fink and original graffiti art? Curious? Nowhere else, just come and see. Ryan & Lucy will happily guide you through and you will hardly realize your world has been turned upside down (or is that inside out?).
New products arrive almost daily and many, such as ‘Kid Robot’ and ‘The Not So Scary Monsters’, are not available anywhere else in the South West. If you’re looking for a child’s toy that will stand out amongst the ordinary, accessories to make you stand out in the crowd or that bit of bling to flash on that special night out, there really is no where better to shop.
On top of all that, Ryan and Lucy do their utmost to ensure customer satisfaction through facilitating special orders and hire purchases. They want you to have that special something just as badly as you do and ‘cool’ doesn’t have to cost.
\Ik’sentrik is not just a shop; it’s a way of life and, especially, a state of mind.
