Biography[edit]

LASE started his career in 1981 as a prolific street bomber in The Bronx. He raised the bar and set new standards for street bombing and influenced subsequent generations with the volume of his work. In 1983 LASE began his subway career. He was a member of the infamous TAT crew (TATs Cru). His main focus was writing on the IRT subway division. His work was seen on the 2 and 5 lines, while the bulk of his efforts were seen on interiors the 6 line. LASE retired from painting subways in 1985.

LASE's unique lettering style, illustration ability and willingness to work beyond traditional boundries set him apart from many artists.

In the late 1990s and early 21st century LASE produced many elaborate paintings on walls throughout New York City including Harlem's Graffiti Hall of Fame. LASE has recently collaborated on murals with artists such as Shepard Fairey, Dalek and Futura 2000.

LASE's commitment to urban art extends well beyond his own art. The coordination of art exhibits and Journalism are among his many endeavors. His articles on aerosol art culture and history have been published in magazines such as Frank 151 and Mass Appeal in New York City.

In April of 2002, LASE produced True School. A widely successful exhibition featuring the work of cultural icons such as STAY HIGH 149, DOZE Green, TATs Cru, FREEDOM and Shepard Fairey.
