Biography[edit]

Kaz started his cartooning career in 1980 as a contributor to Art Spiegelman's acclaimed avant-garde comics magazine RAW. In 1991 he started the weekly self-syndicated comic strip Underworld. The dark, hilarious, deeply twisted Underworld has been nominated for numerous Harvey Awards, and collected into several books published by Fantagraphics.

While creating his weekly strip, Kaz has also brought his freaky sense of humor to television as writer/director of "Spongebob Squarepants" and the new Cartoon Network series "Camp Lazlo." Kaz recently reunited with Art Spiegelman and Françoise Mouly, contributing to their ongoing series Little Lit. Kaz and his wife Linda Marotta make their home in New York City.
