Biography

Mike Maas is the byproduct of monster movies, punk rock, the Catholic Church®, comic books, Kiss®, Andy Warhol®, Boy Scouting, sugary cereal, toys and Saturday morning cartoons. Wearing these influences on his sleeve, Mike creates art that is dark and humorous relying on his few surviving brain cells to remember the skills he's gleaned from 20+ years working in the commercial and fine art fields, many of which are incorporated into his creations.

Mike was born and raised in the cloudy wet and cold state of Michigan. After receiving his degree in Graphic Design from Kendall College of Art and Design and a brief yet miserable stint in Chicago he left the wind chill factor of the midwest for the extreme heat index of the desert southwest where he resides to this day.
